Two teens have been charged with allegedly breaking into a Cronulla home armed with a firearm and knives early on on Monday morning, before making off with two luxury vehicles.

Police were called to a home on Taloombi St at about 4am after reports four people had broken into the property before confronting a male occupant on May 23.

The four males, one allegedly armed with a firearm and the others with knives, stole a number of personal items, police allege, before the group fled in two luxury vehicles; a Mercedes and a Porsche Cayenne.

The three people home at the time were not physically injured.

Less than an hour later, officers from the City East Highway Patrol located the Mercedes vehicle at the rear of a property on Robert St in Ashfield shortly before 5.20am.

The pair, both aged 17, were arrested nearby before being taken to Burwood Police Station.

A secondary crime scenes was established in the area, and a firearm seized.

That same morning, officers from the Sutherland Shire Police Area Command also recovered the Porsche after it had been abandoned on Kiora Rd, Miranda, after being involved in a crash.

Both vehicles recovered will undergo forensic examination.

The teens were refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court today on May 24.

One is charged with special aggravated break and enter with a weapon, possessing an unauthorised pistol, being carried in a vehicle without consent of the owner, not keep firearm safely (pistol), and breach of bail.

The other is charged with assaulting a police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, special aggravated break and enter, and being carried in vehicle taken without consent of the owner.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or information in relation to this incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
