Man injured in workplace machinery accident at Arncliffe
A 30-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after a workplace incident which forced paramedics and firefighters to painstakingly extract his arm from a piece of machinery.
A man has been rushed to hospital after trapping his hand in a piece of industrial equipment at a transport company warehouse in Sydney’s south.
NSW Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance personnel were called to Arncliffe just after 12.30pm following reports a man had trapped his arm in a piece of machinery.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Mike Corlis said officers were presented with a “complex” situation.
“A 30-year-old male has had his hand trapped into an industrial machine, the rescue was quite complicated and it took some time to release him,” Inspector Corlis said.
“Paramedics on the scene requested a medical team, and (the man) was given pain relief. He was stabilised and after about an hour and a half he was released.”
Intensive and extended care paramedics from six ambulances were at the scene.
NSW Fire and Rescue Hurstville station officer Craig Bertram said emergency services found the man trapped “by his fingers”.
“We had to wait for the stabilisation of the patient, and when we did that, we removed nuts and bolts, and we released the man approximately one and a half hours after we arrived.”
