A Bathurst man who was the alleged passenger in a stolen car which led police on a high-speed chase through southern Sydney has faced court, while the mystery driver remains on the run.
Joshua Dickie, 25, fronted Sutherland Local Court on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to knowingly be carried in a stolen conveyance.
He attended his first court appearance dressed in denim shorts, a hoodie, and bright blue Nike TNs.
It comes nearly three weeks after Dickie was arrested and charged following a police pursuit through Menai and Illawong on August 13.
Police allege Dickie was the passenger inside the stolen grey Ford Ranger when officers detected the vehicle allegedly “exceeding the limit” on Alfords Point Road in Menai just after midnight.
When the car allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The chase continued along Fowler Rd in Illawong before the Ford Ranger collided with a police car and crashed into parked vehicles.
One car was pushed through a garage door, forcing another car to plunge over a cliff edge, where it came to rest 10 metres below.
Dickie was then arrested at the scene, however the driver ran away and remains on the run.
NSW Police confirmed the mystery driver is yet to be arrested with “investigations ongoing”.
In court on Thursday, Dickie’ defence lawyer submitted a plea of not guilty on his behalf and requested Dickie remain on conditional bail until his next court appearance.
Magistrate Jillian Kiely granted the bail continuation.
Dickie will appear before court again later this year.
