An ex-teacher whose tirade in a western Sydney Kmart went viral last week has been hit with further charges after investigators uncovered bizarre YouTube playlists remarking on her former school.

Kelly Rosaline Farrugia, who taught at Granville Boys High School until 2019, was arrested on Christmas Eve a day after being granted bail for a shocking outburst at Kmart Bankstown.

The 39-year-old woman, from Bundeena in the Sutherland Shire, was already facing charges of intimidation, publicly threatening violence on religious grounds, behaving in an offensive manner in a public place, using offensive language in a public place and common assault in relation to the Kmart incident.

The incident was preceded by another bizarre situation earlier this month where police allege Farrugia almost ran down respected Sydney Muslim leader Shaykh Wesam Charkawi outside her former school where he works as a student support officer.

Farrugia was charged with intimidation and common assault in relation to this incident. She is yet to enter pleas to these charges.

On Tuesday, Farrugia was arrested at her home after she allegedly breached bail by making offensive comments on social media. She was hit further charges of intimidation and using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.

Farrugia was due to face Parramatta Bail Court on Christmas, however, it was delayed to Boxing Day where the court heard police had uncovered a YouTube channel allegedly run by Farrugia.

The court heard the channel featured a number of “alarming” playlists with offensive titles including one about “waiting at the gates of the school yards”.

The police prosecutor submitted Farrugia also continued to “fixate” on certain members of the community.

The latest development comes after Farrugia was granted bail on Monday after being charged with making religiously motivated threats towards pro-Palestine supporters.

Video of Farrugia’s unprovoked tirade – in which she screamed “are you proud of wearing from the river to the sea? Get f–ked, Allah, every f–king day, f–k off” – was shared widely on social media.

The prosecutor said in relation to the incident with Mr Charkawi how Farrugia waited outside the Granville school’s gates and upon seeing the man exit, allegedly positioned her car and accelerated towards him.

“One step backwards and (Mr Charkawi) would have been hit,” he said.

“It was not sophisticated, but there was a disturbing level of planning.”

Farrugia’s defence lawyer Abby van der Velde submitted the accused was currently undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The accused was denied bail with the case adjourned to Parramatta Local Court early next year.
