A celebrity boxer found guilty of stealing more than $52,000 from her employers at a Sydney medical clinic will fight to have the convictions made in her absence overturned.

Arabella Del Busso, 33, had pleaded not guilty to stealing property worth more than $15,000 as a clerk or servant over allegations she stole $52,350 from Rheumatology Specialist Care.

Police had alleged Del Busso stole the money when she was worked as a receptionist at the clinics – now called Integrated Specialist Medical Care – in Kogarah and Randwick between September 2019 and February 2020.

Del Busso had endeavoured to have her hearing on February 10 vacated – citing illness – but Magistrate Hugh Donnelly dismissed the application, convicting her of both counts in her absence.

On February 23, esteemed Sydney solicitor Wayne Pasterfield made an appearance at Sutherland Local Court – where he told the court he was now instructed by Del Busso and would apply to have her convictions annulled.

Mr Donnelly adjourned the matter for an annulment application at the same court on March 21.

If the annulment is unsuccessful Mr Pasterfield said the matter would alternatively be ready for sentence.

Police facts tendered to Sutherland Local Court reveal the extent of the allegations against Del Busso, who previously had a high profile relationship with NRL player Josh Reynolds.

The pair's relationship disintegrated after it was revealed Del Busso had faked a pregnancy and miscarriage with Reynolds.

She later appeared on reality TV show SAS Australia and is now a competitive boxer.

The police documents detail how Del Busso allegedly repeatedly called clinic patients and asked them to bring cash payments because the EFTPOS machine was not working.

An investigation allegedly revealed the EFTPOS machine was, in fact, working – and Del Busso’s bank records allegedly revealed thousands of dollars’ worth of cash deposits into her accounts during the period she was employed at the clinic.

The matter will return for annulment or sentence on March 21.
