AIDEN Kells’s love of cricket has led him to make the under-13 NSW indoor side at just 11 years of age.

The now 12-year-old Junior Sports Star nominee, from St Clair, usually heads the batting lineup for the St Clair Hawks under-14 side, but his favourite position is wicketkeeper.

“I just really enjoy playing the game,” Aiden said. “I like to go down and play with my mates.

Aiden also plays indoor cricket at the St Marys Indoor Cricket Centre, playing in the same team as his father and grandfather.

A quick learner, Aiden was eventually selected for the District Cricket Association representative team for Penrith Junior Cricket Association for the 2015/16 season.

St Clair Hawks Cricket Club president Natalie Bradbury said Aiden had earned his place with an outstanding season.

“Aiden scored over 500 runs in rep and club cricket last season and took 19 wickets at a rate of 11.9 runs per wicket,” Ms Bradbury said.

“He also took nine catches, executed two runouts and a stumping. Aiden’s performance as an all-rounder secured him the prestigious St Clair Hawks Junior Player of the Year award.”

Aiden’s favourite cricketer is Aussie batsman David Warner and he hopes to one day represent his country like his hero.
