After eight rounds and with play set to resume following the mid-season break, the race is on to be crowned the best batter and bowler in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai & Hills District Cricket Association.
In the only online database where the statistics of every player across all 10 senior grades have been ranked (T20 excluded), we highlight the players to watch when the action returns in round nine on Saturday, January 6.
Loren Wood leads the way for runs scored. Having posted 494, the Castle Hill RSL C3 opener has struck one century and four fifties and with a knock of four runs in B2, sits two shy of the magical 500 mark.
With an unbeaten 200 in C3, St Ives Wahroonga’s Reid Brown is the only player to score a double ton. Oddly enough, it was the first of only two innings this season for the No.3 specialist.
Six rounds shy of the finals and the race for most wickets is wide open. Dean Thomson tops the list with 25, but there’s plenty of pressure coming from a pack of four with 20-plus wickets.
Two bowlers share the best individual performance of the season so far. In round four, Patrick Watkins snared 8-23 in C3 for West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook, before Beecroft’s Nassim Issa replicated the stunning haul three rounds later in D Grade.
