The votes are in and the people have had their say.

Readers have decided who made the cut and deserved to be named in the Souths Juniors 2023 team of the season.

Here’s how you voted.

FULLBACK

Redfern recruit Joven Gyemore was given the nod as custodian of the team with 39 per cent of the vote, edging out Matraville’s Kyle Wilson (26 per cent) and La Perouse’s Evan Manning (24 per cent).

WINGERS

Michael Lyons (South Eastern) was a popular winner with 32 per cent of voters, with 26 per cent to both Redfern flyers TJ Speedy Coe and O’Shay Tyerman.

CENTRES

Mascot’s Rahiri Leach was a standout during a tough season for the Jets and was rewarded with 29 per cent of the vote. Eli Roberts (Redfern) joins him in the team after amassing 25 per cent.

FIVE-EIGHTH

Voters were unable to split Tali Touetu’u (Mascot) and Bayleigh Bentley-Hape (South Eastern), with the two guns tied with 29 per cent of the vote each.

HALFBACK

Joshua Natoli (Matraville) was given the nod in the halfback role after scoring 36 per cent of votes, ahead of both Aaron Kurnoth (South Eastern) and James Frazer (Redfern) with 24 per cent each.

PROPS

Sione Tovo was a runaway victor of the front row vote with the Matraville enforcer securing 50 per cent of all responses. D’Arcy Hardman (South Eastern) was chosen alongside him with 17 per cent.

HOOKER

Aaron Grech (La Perouse) and Dean Widders Jnr (Redfern) were unable to be split, with both star players earning 35 per cent of the vote each.

SECOND ROWERS

All Blacks grand final hero Jay Belgrove (34 per cent) was a popular choice, although he only polled one single vote more than Tagiolupe Tivalu (Mascot) who also had a good year.

LOCK

Mascot workhorse Matthew Makk was a clear winner in the lock position with 48 per cent of the vote, double the next best.
