She grew up within cooee of Concord Oval and on Saturday Desiree Miller was one of the stars of the show at the famous ground as the NSW Waratahs extracted revenge against Fijiana after their painful grand final loss last season.
Now playing for Eastern Suburbs, the 21-year-old, who grew up at Burwood, scored her first Super W try with Wallaroo Layne Morgan going over twice in the 31-5 victory.
The Tahs produced a composed performance for an emotional win after Fijiana ended their four-seaosn undefeated run last year.
Newcastle’s Morgan scored either side of the break in a match the Tahs lead 12-0 at halftime.
Hooker Katalina Amosa scored in the second half along with Jade Sheridan.
Wallaroos coach Jay Tregonning was watching on from the stands as the Waratahs extended their winning run to there game.
Post game he identified Piper Dick, Eva Karpani and Maya Stewart, injured in the match, as among the standouts.
TEEN SCORES AS MORE PLAYERS BLOODED IN SUPER W ROUND TWO
The NSW Waratahs blooded three more players, cheered their schoolgirl sensation to her first try and a newcomer to a special performance in their battle with the ACT Brumbies in the second round of Super W.
Teenager Caitlyn Halse scored her first try in Super W and teammate Ella Ryan scored one against her old teammates as the Waratahs blooded another three players in their second round defeat of the ACT Brumbies.
The Tahs outscored the Brumbies four tries to one in a confidence booting performance a week out from their much anticipated grand final rematch with Fijiana on Easter Saturday.
It was a good workout for the Tahs but a performance coach Campbell Aitken said must be improved on for their battle with Fijiana.
“We went wide too often instead of straight at them,’’ he said.
“It was a tough game. It took us a while to get on top of them.
“But we have to learn how to stay in the fight a bit longer.’’
The Waratahs took the match 24-13 with captain Piper Duck, Fi Jones, Georgina Friedrichs, two-try star Maya Stewart and Halse among the stars.
Wallaroo Eva Karpani returned from injury in the match.
Britt Merlot, Claudia Meltzer and Jacinta Windsor and made their Tahs debuts.
The Waratahs take on Fijian Drua at Concord Oval on Saturday.
