There was sand flying, bodies hurtling through the air and great racing at the interstates surf life saving 2023 at Maroubra on Monday.
The best in the game hit the Sydney beach for a competition that in recent times fell foul of the coronavirus pandemic.
Back in 2023 it was back to its best with teams from across the country competing.
NSW and Queensland dominated the teams leaders board across the different divisions. FULL STORY HERE.
But with state pride on the line there were excellent performances across the board.
As usual the beach events had the crowd on its feet with the most popular racing in the beach flags.
There was sensational racing in the board, ski and surf races with our Nutri-Grain stars pitting themselves against the rising stars of the sport in the ironman racing.
The championships gave a glimpse of the future of the sport with competitors as young as 13 racing at the event

2023 Australian Surf Lifesaving Interstate Overall Championship Points: NSW - 255, QLD - 243, WA - 166, VIC - 148, SA - 130, TAS - 65.
NSW head coach Jimmy Walker was thrilled for his Blues team.
“It’s so good when the whole team comes together and works together,’’ he said.
“We have good depth, good talent and good humans. Seeing 14-year-olds racing with Nutri-Grain athletes, it’s great.
“Whether it’s the club down the road or another state, for us today, it’s Queensland and today we did it again. But we’ll go and race in another event and we’re all mates again.”
