NSW All Schools athletics 2022: Star studded field with champions of the future out to make mark

More than 2000 athletes will compete at the NSW All-Schools with the event boasting a field of rising stars and young guns out to make their name. Athletes to watch and preview.

Some of Australian athletics most promising teen talent will compete at the NSW All Schools from Saturday as a new wave of future champions work to make their mark in the sport.

The 2022 NSW All Schools Athletics championships will field a host of young stars who have already started to make their presence felt on the international stage plus a new group hoping to impress.

In an extraordinary show of power from NSW Athletics, the event will include youngsters who already have a Commonwealth Games under their belt and eight NSW guns who have represented Australia at a junior world championship.

Commonwealth Games Para-Guns Indi Cooper and Sarah Clifton-Bligh will be racing along with high-jumper Erin Shaw with a PB of 1.88m and the sixth best junior high jumper in Australian history.

Coffs Harbour Hayley Kitching will race with speedsters including Olivia Inkster and Aleks Stoilova, The Kings’ Schools Charlie Jeffreson, Delta Amidzovski and Westfields Sports High School student Rashid Kabba.

Others expected to turn heads include young hurdler Billy Blair, jumper Sienna Bond - whose brother Connor is building his name in sprinting - speedster Emma Lee, 800 and 1500m runner Daniel Williams and the versatile Grace Krause.

Also competing will be rising star Sebastian Sultana, shot put gun Amosia Soatini and 400m specialist Paige Campbell.

Last year the majority of the above used the championships to kick off a season to remember.

This year there are numerous new names hoping to put themselves on selection sheets at the event at Sydney Olympic Park.

Kitching’s brother Jade is one and will bring fine form in the 800m to the event as will St Joseph’s College runner Oliver Neate.

Hammer thrower Alex Goetz from Westfields Sports High is another to watch for along with Cowra High’s Ky Garratt with a PB of 56.66m.

In the sprinting events watch for Joseph Ayoade from Ryde Secondary College, Knox’s Alex Sherlock, St Joseph’s Ethan Quintana and Sebastian Ghisso from Trinity Grammar.

Ben Stevens is expected to turn heads in field events along with Jozef Cluff from Trinity.

Others youngsters to watch for at the event include Grammar’s Lachlan Herbert, decathlete Angus Clues and Westfields Bryce Nolan.

Also keep an eye out for 3000m runner Matthew McLachlan from Trinity and Hunters Sports High’s Nate Ward.

In the women’s, jumper Izzy Louison-Roe from Kirrawee High is one to watch along with distance runner Piper Simpson from St Catherine’s School Waverley, javelin thrower

Tali Baltineshter, discus competitor Chelsy Wayne from St Mary Star of the Sea College in Wollongong and middle distance runner Isabella Wall from Tamworth.

Also expected to turn heads are field athletes Kaiah Wong from The Hills Sports High and Leichhardt’s Irini Kapsalis, Newcastle sprinter Ava Ross, talented Endeavour Sports High sisters Tammin and Jasynta Lampret in multiple events and walkers Zoe Woods and Grace Beck from Pymble Ladies College.

We will be at the event watching the stars of tomorrow perform.
