It was a good weekend in and out of the water for the surf life savers from the northern beaches.

It’s not what most people do on a weekend off from competition - go and find a new sport to do.
But that’s exactly what ironman Kenrick Louis did - and won.
Surf life saver Louis, who is most at home in the surf and on his craft, won the annual 3 Points Challenge - a swim-run-swim-run-swim-run event.
Louis just a week ago competed in the third round of the Nutri-Grain ironman series and is now training for the fourth round on Surfers Paradise this weekend.
“It was more of a runners race but it was exciting to do something different,’’ Louis said.
“There were a few waves and a lot of the other guys aren’t too familiar in the surf so that helped me.
“They say I am the first ironman ever to win the event.’’

In other surf life saving news, Sydney Northern Beaches won the NSW Interbranch championships at Bulli over the weekend for the third year in a row.
Northern Beaches just pipped Sydney Branch for the top honours with Hunter third and followed by Central Coast, Far North Coast, Illawarra, South Coast, Mid North Coast, Lower North Coast, Far South Coast and North Coast.
“It was definitely a lot harder this year, everything was unpredictable. The win was a testament to everyone’s skills in very interesting and tricky conditions,’’ said Sydney Northern Beaches captain Maddi Spencer
“To throw in the large surf meant we couldn’t count on some of the results this time. The younger kids did so well getting around the course in those conditions.
“It’s always a good battle with Sydney, point for point. It was really close. I couldn’t be prouder of the team.’’
