AARON Fulton, a kid born to race, is burning with the ambition of making it on the big stage in dirt bike and speedway racing.
Winner of several titles and awards Australia-wide, the 16-year-old is making his way back after a shoulder injury that sidelined him for almost half a year.
Specialists had advised him he would only be able to race again after 18 months, but sheer grit has seen the youngster prove them wrong.
This week’s Junior Sports Star nominee admits it was a challenging time as he recuperated at home after the operation, having to gradually build strength in his shoulder.
“It’s been a tough time after I dislocated my left shoulder in a riding accident last year,” Aaron, who resumed racing in March this year, said.
“After I was given the all clear to exercise again, I trained almost seven days a week, even through pain.
“I resumed racing after 18 months, and I was pleased when I came fourth at the NSW Senior State titles on May 14, at Tamworth, this being my first big competitive event.”
The ex-Rouse Hill High School student is gearing up for bigger events, starting with the Far Coast Cup on July 16 and 17, and Australian championships in August.
“My main goal this year is to try and compete in all the main events, and finishing within the top 10 each time,” said Aaron, whose family has moved to Maraylya.
“My long-term goal is to ride in England within two to three years, in the Premier Speedway League in England, and then hopefully step up to the elite and world championships.”
Aaron is also looking for sponsors to finance his dream. If you can help, email: triple9racing@outlook.com or phone 0478 647 344.
