ROUSE Hill’s rising cyclist Joshua Brodie could soon catch the eye of our national selectors after winning two Australian titles at the 2016 National Junior Track Cycling Championships held recently in Tasmania.
The 13-year-old cemented his reputation as a cyclist with great potential as the scratch race national champion and points race national title holder over four days at the Silverdome.
In addition, the 2014 NSW Cyclist of the Year (under-13) pocketed a silver medal in the 2km individual pursuit where NSW captured all three medals.
A member of the Western Sydney Academy of Sports, Joshua has taken tremendous strides over the past few years, and was also fourth in the sprints at the nationals.
“I am over the moon about winning two national titles at one championship and these titles show me what I am capable of when I put my mind to something,” Joshua said.
“It gives me a lot of confidence.
“My next goal this year is to make it into the NSW state road cycling team for under 15s to represent NSW at the National Junior Road championships.
“I also want to win a national road title.”
Joshua, whose cycling idol is world and Olympic champion Anna Meares, has collected a swag of NSW titles over the past few years.
He also plays football for Rouse Hill Anglican College but prefers cycling after catching the bug from his dad Dean.
