ROUND 14 WRAP + GALLERY
An incredible weekend of football on the south coast of NSW played out as the Group 7 competition inches closer to finals.
See how things panned out across the league.
JETS HOLD OUT GORILLAS COMEBACK
The Nowra-Bomaderry Jets survived a late scare from the Warilla Lake South Gorillas to record a 30-20 victory at Cec Glenholmes Oval.
A 90m intercept from James Hoy gave the Gorillas the best possible start in the eighth minute, with the winger saving a try and rebounding with one of his own as he flashed down the sideline.
Then Beau Luland turned the tide in the Jets favour in a five-minute period, grubbering through for Adam Quinlan to score, before darting out of dummy-half to post one of his own.
Adventurous play from the Gorillas back-three saw them spread the ball wide after a long-kick from Nowra, only to see them fumble and the ball scooped up by Matori Atunaisa to push the lead to 18-6.
When Zac Kershaw barged his way over form close range to open up a 24-6 advantage, Warilla looked in big trouble.
They responded however, with tries to Darnell Walker, Jake Brisbane and Justin Jones getting them to within a converted try at 26-20 with 17 minutes to play.
A pair of penalty goals stopped the comeback however to keep the Jets well in the finals race.
CONTROVERSIAL FINISH SEES SHARKS DOWN LIONS
The Shellharbour Sharks came away with a 14-12 win over Gerringong in the match of the round at Ron Costello Oval.
It wasn’t without controversy however, as the Lions appealed for a matchwinner after the bell, only to be denied.
Taj Ford put in a grubber on the siren that was charged down and regathered by the Sharks, before the five-eighth stole the ball while he was on the ground and ran 40m to score.
The match officials deemed the tackle was completed however, with Shellharbour coming away with the two points.
With scores tied at 12-all, a penalty was awarded in the 76th minute for a dangerous tackle, allowing Shellharbour a shot at goal to win the game.
Jacob Seabrook stepped up from 43m out, hit it sweetly and raised the flags to claim a famous win.
BERRY DENIES JAMBEROO AT THE DEATH
Late drama lifted the Berry Shoalhaven Heads Magpies to an upset 24-20 win over the Jamberoo Superoos at Kevin Walsh Oval.
With time winding down and the Magpies in front 18-14, Jayden Morgan crashed his way over through some sloppy defence to take the lead for the Roos in the 77th minute.
That forced a short kick-off, which was unable to be regathered by the home side.
With one last throw of the dice, Joe Rogers threw the ball out wide to Blake Dryden, who stepped inside and scored with just 10 seconds remaining to give the Magpies their third win of the season, and first since April.
STINGRAYS REMAIN ON TOP
The Stingrays of Shellharbour maintained top spot on the Group 7 ladder courtesy of a 24-18 win over Kiama at the Kiama Showground, but not without a late fright.
Seemingly in full control of the contest after James Scott raced close to 90 metres to score an intercept try in the 43rd minute to push the lead out to 24-6, the Knights launched a charge.
A pair of tries to the right-edge of Cameron Cornell and Callan Thistlethwaite set up a grandstand finish to get Kiama to within six with just over 10 minutes to play.
The Stingrays held solid however, closing out the contest to nab the win.
BULLDOGS LAY BITE INTO EAGLES
Milton Ulladulla made a big statement after downing Albion Park-Oak Flats 42-18 at Bill Andriske Oval.
A double to back-rower Jarrah Treweek highlighted the win in front of a big home crowd.
His first came off a lovely short ball from halfback Sam Stewart, before his second had everyone out of their seats.
A perfect chip from Cody Roach was juggled in the air by Treweek, who regained possession before it hit the ground in a remarkable piece of athleticism.
