Local footy returned with a bang over the weekend as the Group 2 Rugby League season kicked off in spectacular fashion around the region.

In a stunning opening to the season, Sawtell came from 16 points down to defeat the Grafton Ghosts while a late try to Macksville’s Sam Shields helped the Sea Eagles overturn a halftime deficit to pip the Coffs Harbour Comets.
