Not even a nasty accident and a stay in hospital can deter young rider Rayne Alefosio from what she loves.
The 12-year-old from Rooty Hill is committed to motocross, a sport she had been doing for six years and hopes one day will take her round the world.
This month it will take her to New Zealand alongside other members of the Go Girl racing team.
And it’s thanks to her grit and determination to bounce back from an accident while racing.
“I did want to give up something I loved,” said Alefosio, who started with the Blacktown mini bike club when six and is now associated with the Baulkham Hills junior club.
“I had a bit of a head injury and hurt my shoulder.
“I was in hospital for a couple of weeks.
“I just wanted to get straight back on it.”

Rayne said she started to ride after her father took her to watch some motocross racing.
“I was about six years. I wasn’t scared. It just looked cool and fun to do,” she said.
“Dad just took me to a moto cross track and I just knew I wanted to do it.
“I like the way they did tricks and Things.”
She now has her sights set on being a professional rider in the future like her hero, German Ken Roczen.
“I like it because I like getting better each time I ride, improving on my lap times” she said.
“I like going fast. Most people call me an adrenaline junkie.”
President of Go Girl Racing Australia president Nicole McIntyre said Alefosio was selected based on her riding performance at GGRA in 2019 where she finishing in first place in the 85cc SW female class.
“Rayne has always showed great team enthusiasm and it has been a great pleasure to be able to have Rayne as part of the 2020 team,’’ she said.
