The best young cricketers in the state will feature in the AW Green Shield semi-finals, with just four teams out of 20 remaining.
Defending champions Northern District and St George remain undefeated across the 2021/22 competition, each taking talented squads from Parramatta and Manly-Warringah respectively.
Some of the competitions leading players will feature in today’s knockout matches, including leading batters Sam Konstas of St George, Jake Hutchings of Manly-Warringah and Sam Weir of Northern District, as well as the top bowlers such as Roop Dhillon of Manly, Riley Mackay of Northern District and Edward Anderson of St George.
Each match will begin at 10am at Asquith Oval and Hurstville Oval.

UNDEFEATED NORTHERN DISTRICT VICTORIOUS

Northern District has won the opportunity to defend their AW Green Shield title following a narrow two wicket win against Parramatta.
The Rangers have not loss a AW Green Shield match for two years but will come up against a strong opponent in the Sam Konstas-led St George.
Krish Thakir, coming in at number 5, was the top batter for the Rangers with Riley McDowell (16*) and John James (19) guiding the home team home in the final overs.
Northern District reached the target 14 balls to spare.
The best bowlers for Parramatta were Ryan Gupta (3/24 from 10 overs) and Lucas Sassen (2/25 from eight overs).
ST GEORGE WIN EMPHATICALLY

Led by a captain Sam Konstas, St George has chased down the 143 run target set by Manly-Warringah inside 31 overs.
Konstas put together an unbeaten 70 off 73 balls as the St George reached the total with seven wickets spare.
The team will play in the grand final on Thursday.

Parramatta’s Lucas Sassen has celebrated a second wicket with Northern District’s Sam Weir caught behind for 4.

FIRST OVER WICKETS FALL IN BOTH MATCHES

The opening bowlers of Manly-Warringah and Parramatta have each struck in the opening early.
Manly-Warringah’s Nathan Pryke bowled into the top of off-stump to dismiss St George opener Thomas Forrester for a duck, leading to animated celebrations with teammates.
Parramatta’s Lucas Sassen trapped Jordan Netto LBW after three balls.
NORTHERN DISTRICT SET 146 RUNS TO CHASE

Parramatta have set the undefeated Northern District a total of 146 runs to chase down in the semi-final of the AW Green Shield.
An impressive effort in the field by the Rangers saw four batters run out.
Top scorers for Parramatta were Nitesh Samuel, bowled out by Northern District captain Riley Mackay for 36, and Blake Noorbergen who scored 27 runs coming in at number 7.
Captain Riley Mackay led from the front with the ball with his ten overs resulting in two wickets for 35 runs.
MANLY-WARRINGAH ALL OUT FOR 142

Manly-Warringah are all out with 11 balls left in the innings, setting St George a 143-run target to make the AW Green Shield grand final on Thursday.
Manly’s Will Matheson blasted a run-a-ball 22, including two fours and a six, before being caught Krish Surana off the bowling of Edward Anderson.
Johnny Konstas made short work of the number 11 batter Beau Kelley with a full pitched ball cannoning into the off stump.
The pick of the St George bowlers were Thomas Phelps (4/40 off ten overs), Edward Anderson (3/29 off nine overs) and Jackson Ingram (1/10 off ten overs).
Manly-Warringah’s top run scorers were Roop Dhillon (24 from 66 balls) and Will Matheson (22 from 22 balls).

WICKETS TUMBLE AT HURSTVILLE

The St George bowling unit has led the way at Hurstville Oval, with regular wickets seeing the visiting Manly-Warringah team at 8/110 after 44 overs.
Edward Anderson, the leading wickettaker for St George this competition, charmed both Ethan Buchanan and Brodie McDowell into playing mistimed shots caught by Sam Konstas and Ingram respectively.
Thomas Phelps returned to the action with two wickets in two balls, Lewis Whiley caught at mid-wicket and Nathan Pryke caught behind, to have St George well on top in the match.
From his seven overs, Phelps has figures of 4/21.
Brett Lee’s son Preston remains now out, with 12 runs scored from 33 balls.
Manly-Warringah are 8/110 with six overs left in the innings.
PARRAMATTA STRUGGLE TO SCORE IN HORNSBY

A tight bowling performance by Northern District are presenting limited scoring opportunities to Parramatta, scoring 67 runs after 27 overs.
The first wicket fell in the 12th over with Northern District’s John James celebrating the prized wicket of Rajeev Navaratnam, caught at first slip for 19.
Sam Weir dismissed Parramatta’s other opening bat Nilaathan Kulendran in the 20th over, trapped LBW for 15.
Parramatta batter Sai Vemulapalli was run out for 19, leaving the visiting team at 3/67 after 27 overs.
UNDEFEATED ST GEORGE ON TOP

The undefeated St George have all the momentum at Hurstville Oval, with athletic fielding and pressure bowling leading to a number of top-order wickets.
Manly opening bat Jack Donnan was run out by Edward Donnan for 10, with a bowling partnership between Jackson Ingram and Thomas Phelps leading to wickets.
Manly-Warringah’s leading runscorer for the competition Jake Hutchings hit a lofted drive off the bowling of Ingram to be dismissed for 12 following a diving forward effort by St George captain Sam Konstas.
An athletic effort by Ingram in the field caught Manly captain Roop Dhillon for 24 off the bowling of Phelps, with talented batter Andrew Boulten caught and bowled by Phelps for 1.
After 25 overs, Manly-Warringah are positioned at 4/63.
QUARTERFINALS WASH UP
Manly skipper leads way in knockout Green Shield match
A dominant performance with ball and ball by Manly-Warringah captain Roop Dhillon has inspired a quarterfinal victory against Gordon at Chatswood Oval in the AW Green Shield.
From winning the toss before topping the runs and wickets column, Dhillon led from the front in the knock out fixture which saw Manly-Warringah win by a whopping 151 runs.
The captain opened the batting for the first time all tournament and laid the foundation for the team’s biggest score of the summer with an individual score of 84, with half centuries to Jack Donnan (57 from 104 balls) and Jake Hutchings (57* from 58 balls) seeing Manly finish with 3/263.
Gordon was mounting a competitive chase, positioned at 2/78 after 23 overs, before the skipper took charge with three quick wickets, seeing the home team at 5/84.
In the same spell, Dhillon celebrated another rapid-fire three wickets to see Gordon all out for 112.
Dhillon finished with figures of 6/16, with strong support from Nathan Pryke who finished with 2/27.
Third Green Shield century for Sam Konstas
St George captain Sam Konstas had scored his third century this summer in the AW Green Shield to have statisticians reaching for the record books, inspiring his undefeated team to a quarterfinal victory.
Penrith won the toss and elected to bat with powerful opening bat Leo Astill, who blasted the highest individual score of the competition so far, racing to a half century in under 35 balls.
Constant wickets flowed following Astill’s dismissal off the bowling of Krish Surana for 59, with the team all out for 173 after 47.5 overs.
Edward Anderson was the pick of the St George bowlers with figures of 4/22 from his ten overs.
The competition’s leading run scorer Sam Konstas made no mistakes with the chase with a run a ball century, supported by an unbeaten 37 from Anderson, seeing St George run down the total with 10.5 overs to spare and seven wickets in hand.
Defending champs cruise into semi finals
An impressive bowling performance by Northern District has proven to be too much for Sydney Cricket Club, all out for 108 after winning the toss.
Opening bowlers Jaden Sequeira and Jasper Scott each took an early wicket to have the visitors on the back foot at 2/11, before Addison Sherriff helped Sydney back in the match to be positioned at 3/76.
However, the batting unit crumbled from this point on for Sydney to lose 7/32.
The pick of the Northern District bowlers was Peter Murray with 3/17.
Northern District chased down the 109 run target with 23 overs to spare and seven wickets in hand, with Sam Weir anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 41.
Parramatta win western Sydney battle
The Campbelltown-Camden Ghosts have been eliminated from the AW Green Shield with a three wicket win to Parramatta at Old Kings Oval.
The Ghosts were travelling well at 1/136 with the two of the team’s highest run scorers across the competition – Bailey Abela and Riley Kingsell – at the crease.
As the run rate began to build, Parramatta’s Ryan Gupta transformed the match with the prized wickets of both batters in the 37th over.
The last 13 overs of the innings saw Campbelltown-Camden add 41 runs for the loss of seven wickets, led by the bowling of Aayush Lekhwani (3/33) and Lucas Sassen (2/27).
An early wicket to Angus Campbell with a ball clipping the bails gave the Ghosts hope, but sensible batting led by Nilaathan Kulendran (40) and Sai Vemulapalli (41) saw the home team take control.
Parramatta ultimately chased down the total with 22 balls to spare.
