Saxon Coates - Swansea Belmont

Swansea Belmont’s Saxon Coates earns a mention for one of the most excited wins in the U19 board final - and it pretty much left him speechless.

“There’s nothing more today that I’ve ever wanted. I just put my head down … I've just got no words, I’m so happy,’’ he said after his win.

“It’s my first Australian medal and I put in the work, I put in 15, 16 sessions a week. “Halfway through the season, I didn’t think I had what it took but after that race I really surprised myself.

“It means everything. It means the work that I’ve put in from the start of the season to the end of the season has paid off. ‘’

The Australian championships involve around 6000 competitors with the youth and masters events already raced.
