AFL: GWS Giants early season matches in Sydney, Canberra, schedule

The Giants are “excited’’ about resuming games in front of their Sydney and Canberra fans during their 10th season with a number of top-notch battles planned for the opening six rounds of the AFL competition.
AFL fans will be treated to six games at Giants Stadium - including their opener against St Kilda on March 28 - with Friday night football in Canberra this season.
“2021 will be our 10th season in the AFL competition, providing the perfect opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come over the past decade and celebrate everything we’ve achieved so far,’’ said Giants chief executive David Matthews.
In Sydney, the Giants will host St Kilda, Essendon, Richmond, Carlton and Hawthorn along with the much-anticipated local derby with the Sydney Swans at the front end of the season.
Canberra matches will resume in round three against Melbourne with an early highlight the Friday night game against old foes, the Western Bulldogs, in round six, and then a match with Port Adelaide in round 20.
The Giants will also play in Western Australia (round 2), South Australia (round 7), Queensland (round 11) and Tasmania (round 13) as well as six games in Victoria.
The GIANTS have been allocated two games at the MCG as well as three games at Marvel Stadium and a much-anticipated trip to Geelong to take on the Cats in round 21.
“It’s been a difficult year for everyone and we are excited about resuming home games in Sydney and Canberra in front of our passionate members,” Matthews said.
