The infamous State of Origin nude streaker has landed himself behind bars after allegedly breaking a window, deadlock and door, before entering a south Sydney home.
Spotted running in nothing but a pair of trainers during Game 3 of the 2013 Origin series, Wati Holmwood was arrested on September 25 and charged with entering a dwelling with intent in aggravated circumstances and two counts of intentionally or recklessly destroy property.
He did not appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday where his matter was ultimately adjourned by Magistrate Brett Thomas for charge certificate on March 21.
Police allege the 44-year-old intentionally or recklessly destroyed a deadlock and door at a Department of Communities and Justice property in Eastlakes about 3.25am on the same day of his arrest.
Two hours later he is accused of destroying a window and then entering a home on Slattery Pl, Eastlakes “with the intent to commit a serious indictable offence, (namely) intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm”.
Police allege he “knew that there was a person present within the said dwelling”.
Holmwood remains in custody on remand and the matter will return for bail review on February 2.
Holmwood’s infamous streak came in the closing stages of Game 3 with a court previously hearing he downed eight schooners of beer before making the lengthy naked dash – which was broadcast on live TV and witnessed by millions.
“I felt like I had to be seen, I just wanted people to see me … I wasn’t thinking, I just did it,” he said at the time.
However, it wasn’t Holmwood’s first time, having streaked at an NRL final between the Tigers and Warriors in 2011.
