Site Pizza Bar, 6/2-8 Pine Ave, Little Bay

Since opening in 2013, Site Pizza Bar has become the go-to local pizza place for Little Bay residents.

Not only do the pizzas taste good — just try the pollo with fresh mushrooms, succulent chicken breast and mozzarella — but they are hilariously named as well. The Australiana and the Ned Kelly are two that stand out.

Site Pizza also ups the ante when it comes to desert pizzas, with the Nutella calzone topping their desert menu.

Maranello’s, 51/737 Anzac Parade, Maroubra

Priding itself on serving authentic Italian cuisine, this lively Italian restaurant has a range of traditional and gourmet pizzas on its menu.

Seafood pizza fans are always satisfied by the gamberroni gourmet pizza, which is topped with marinated tiger king prawns, cherry tomatoes, shallots and roasted capsicum.

Maranello’s was a finalist for Best Restaurant in the Randwick City Business Excellence Awards in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.

Da Mario, 1/36 Morley Ave, Rosebery

The first Australian member of The True Neapolitan Pizza Association, this Rosebery gem keeps its pizzas simple and true to its roots.

All of Da Mario’s menu items are written in Italian with English descriptions, adding to the authentic atmosphere of the warehouse-turned pizzeria location.

With four types of margheritas to choose from, diners are spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting their 13-inch thin-base pizza.

Pinnochio’s, Level 2/538 Anzac Parade, Kingsford

Since moving from The Spot in Randwick a few years ago, Pinnochio’s has upheld its 15-year legacy for delectable pizzas at its new location, The Juniors Kingsford.

With a Mediterranean-Italian influence, Pinnochio’s home-style cooking doesn’t disappoint. The livello pizza with Italian salami, mushrooms, rocket and truffle oil is a crowd favourite.

Even better, once you’ve enjoyed your pizza you can catch a show in the auditorium.

Pairing fine wine with fast food

Coco’s Pizza Cafe, 2/264 Bunnerong Rd, Matraville

Coco’s Pizza Cafe is known locally for its fast and friendly serve, generous toppings and crispy pizza crusts.

It’s hard to walk past this place without wanting to stop for a tasty bite, because the smell of fresh pizza follows you down the street.

Customer recommendations for Coco’s include the Portuguese pizza and new addition to the menu, the crunchy satay chicken pizza.

Zio Pino Pizzeria, 930 Botany Rd, Mascot

A family run pizzeria that’s been feeding the Mascot community for more than three decades, Zio Pino’s aim is “to take your tummy to Italy”.

The classic red-and-white checkered table cloths and woodfired pizza oven scream authentic Italian.

The four seasons pizza, with ham, mushroom, prawns and cabanossi divided into quarters, is a foolproof way to share pizza among friends.

La Spiaggia, 248 Coogee Bay Rd, Coogee

Owned by the much-loved Lombardo family from the Siderno region of Calabria, La Spiaggia is the epitome of a family-run Italian restaurant.

The delicious woodfired pizzas endlessly impress, and many locals have said the food is the best they’ve tasted outside of Italy.

You’ll often see Italian families enjoying the pizza — like the carnevale with tomato, mozzarella, sausage and ham — in the warm atmosphere of La Spiaggia.

Maybe Frank Randwick, 69 Perouse Rd, Randwick

A traditional woodfired pizzeria fused with a contemporary cocktail bar is what you’ll find at Maybe Frank Randwick, which has an impressive selection of 25 pizzas.

Diners can choose from a variety of white mozzarella base or tomato base pizzas, or even one of the four calzones if folded pizza is more your style.

For those looking for a fun vegetarian pizza, the carina is the way to go, with rosemary, pumpkin cream and porcini mushrooms.

Arthur’s Pizza, 35 McKeon St, Maroubra

While Arthur’s Pizza first made it’s mark opening in Paddington in 1974, making it the oldest continually running pizzeria in Sydney, the Maroubra location is earning its stripes as well.

A number of distinctive pizzas are available at Arthur’s, such as the potzola with potato, gorgonzola, pecorino cheese and caramelised onions.

Arthur’s also have a make-your-own option, which allows pizza-lovers to create a pizza with five of their favourite toppings.

Just minutes walk from Frenchmans Beach at La Perouse, Giovanni La Pizza has made a name for itself with its seafood toppings.

Sven’s Viking Pizza, 171 Carrington Rd, Coogee

Swedish pizza might be as strange as it sounds, but it’s still really delicious.

Sven’s Viking Pizza offers a unique Scandi reinvention of the classic Italian meal, naming their pizzas after Swedish gods, such as Fro, the male fertility god; the Fro pizza features premium beef eye fillet and bernaise sauce.

Sven’s Viking Pizza also has a dish called pizzasalad, a traditional pickled cabbage salad that is paired with pizza in all Swedish pizza places.

Nude Pizza, 1215 Anzac Parade, Malabar

Nude Pizza has rejuvenated the healthy pizza concept.

Offering wholemeal and gluten-free base options which are made through a slow-rising process, diners can design their own pizzas to fuse classic Italian with healthy living.

The ozy ozy — with marinated chicken breast, spinach, pineapple and chilly flakes — has also answered the age-old question of whether pineapple belongs on pizza (the answer is yes, obviously).
