Valentine's events in Sydney this year are all about getting out there and having fun from rock concerts and sunset picnics to a three-course offal menu and everything in-between. Here is our guide to some of the best:

PREATURES, COOGEE BAY HOTEL

If scented candles and red roses are not your speed you can rock out with Sydney indie band The Preatures at the Coogee Bay Hotel this Valentine’s Day. Enigmatic frontwoman Isabella “Izzi” Manfredi and her band will be helping to share the love as part of a concert in Coogee Bay Hotel’s live music venue, Selina’s.

Last year was a big year for the rock pop soul outfit, that formed in 2010, with a 40 location tour around Australia, just after their supporting gig with Harry Styles on the Australian leg of his world tour. They have also supported the likes of P!nk, Foo Fighters and the Rolling Stones. “It’s gonna be a classic Preatures show - pure energy,” the band said. “As it’s our first Sydney show in a while, we want our fans to be involved. We’re asking people to request which classic love song they’d like us to cover on the night. And we also might take some dedications. Richard Mercer-style.” Before the concert head to the beer garden for the free pre-party hosted by Queen Schisandra from 6pm for couples, singles and everyone in-between. There will be fortune-telling, live music and games and prizes.
