The Family Law actor Trystan Go will take the lead in the St Andrew’s Cathedral School musical, Fiddler on the Roof from April 4-6.

The rising Coogee star has also only recently wrapped up filming for sci-fi feature film Occupation Rainfall, the highly anticipated follow-up to the Australian-produced sci-fi blockbuster Occupation, alongside Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals) and US actor Ken Jeong.

Go, who plays the fictional Benjamin Law in the SBS comedy The Family Law, will be playing the role of Tevye, the fatherin Fiddler on the Roof.

“The thing I love most about Fiddler on The Roof is that I get to play a character that is so different from me, as a 17 year -old student,” Go said.

“It has been a great learning experience playing the role of Tevye, the father. At the start of the show he is really set in his traditions but by the end of the show he realises family is the most important thing.”
At St Andrew’s Cathedral School, Go is involved in many of the school’s performing arts activities, including voice and choir. He is also in the debating team, plays tennis and is this year’s school captain.

“Having to keep on top of my school work, co-curricular activities and normal life while filming on set is a huge juggling act but it is definitely worth it,” Trystan said.

“I would love to go on and develop a successful career in the creative arts, being either a movie star or an opera singer, or perhaps even own a hotel.”

Head of School Dr John Collier said creativity was an important skill today.

“Now more than ever employers are looking for people who can think innovatively and critically,” Dr Collier said.

Head of Performing Arts, Dr Christian Watson said the arts was the heart and soul of the school.

“Music has been a constant thread in the school’s fabric and a number of alumni have gone on to enjoy successful careers in the creative industries,” he said.

“Rebecca Breeds, who played the lead role in the school’s 2005 musical, is one alumna who is living out her performing arts dreams, from acting in Home and Away to being cast in the US hit series Pretty Little Liars.”
