Popular eateries across Sydney’s eastern suburbs and southeast have been named and shamed on the NSW Food Authority’s latest list of food safety breaches including two establishments inside a Westfield mall.
The breaches range from poor cleanliness and hygiene practices to failing to take all practicable steps to eradicate pests and failing to keep potentially hazardous food under temperature control.
The NSW Food Authority publishes a name and shame list on its website highlighting businesses which it claims have breached food safety standards.
Ten eateries across the eastern suburbs and southeast Sydney have been fined and added to the list during the past six months, from November 2020 to early April 2021.
The worst-hit suburbs for eateries making the list are Bondi, Bondi Junction and Mascot.
Two eateries inside Westfield Bondi Junction have joined the unenviable list including Sourdough Bakery and Hokka Hokka.
Sourdough Bakery received a whopping $2640 in fines relating to three separate penalties in March which involved failing to keep potentially hazardous food under temperature control as well as poor cleanliness and hygiene practices.
Mascot’s Tandoori Zone also received three fines worth $2640 during the past six months for similar breaches.
