Locals in a south Sydney suburb won’t have to travel far for a meatball sub.
Residents of Kingsgrove currently have to travel out of the area for Subway, however plans have been lodged to Bayside Council for the popular sandwich store to set up between a bakery and tobacconist at 260 Kingsgrove Rd.
The inside of the proposed premises is empty, with the planning documents outlining proposed internal works in order to turn it into a “food and drink premises”.
“Works will include a dedicated food preparation zone, retail counter for the sale of goods produced on site and eating area (restaurant) alongside a staffroom with amenities,” the proposal states.
“The proposed restaurant will operate as both a takeaway venue and eat-in restaurant with food being prepared within the dedicated kitchen facilities.”
The designs show multiple seating areas for both groups and individuals, with the store expected to operate between 8am to 8pm.
The Subway would employ 10 people, with the proposal outlining up to four people on site at “any one time, enhancing employment opportunities”.
Planning documents state that impacts to the neighbours weren’t anticipated at this stage, including the unit above the shop.
