THEY have soared high above the competition all season, now the South Eastern Sydney Seagulls have been named South Sydney Junior League Club Champions for 2017.

“This is the first time the club has ever achieved such success and emphasises the hard work all our players, coaches and officials dedicate each week to continue to improve and position this club in Junior Rugby League in this district,” the club’s assistant secretary Kieran Hickey said.

“This has not been an easy task given the strength and competitiveness of the other clubs in the South Sydney district and the other districts we have played against.”

The under 16s girls proved no exception, as they won their grand final 44 to 22 over Chester Hill Hornets on Saturday.

The boys’ international teams’ grand finals at Redfern on August 27 saw the 17s named premiers with a 46-6 win over Clovelly, while the 13s beat the Coogee Dolphins 26-6. The 15s lost but put in a great effort to finish minor premiers. On August 28, the 18 girls played well, but went down fighting with a 32-22 loss to Cronulla-Caringbah.

The Mod League 12s won their grand final over Maroubra 30-nil, the 9s and 10s put in a solid effort, and the mini league 6s and 7s had a lot of fun in their grand final matches.

The club fielded two new junior girls teams, the A Grade made it through to the Semi Finals, while 12 kids took part in the Junior Bunnies program.
