TWENTY six young athletes have run, thrown and jumped their way to a place in the state championships.
Randwick Botany Little Athletics club amassed 70 medals — 13 gold, 28 silver and 29 bronze at the Barden Ridge regional championships on February 3 and 4. First and second in each event will fight it out for state honours at the NSW Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park next month.
“It is a fantastic achievement. We are very proud of all of those who took part at Barden Ridge,” Kristel Ariens from the club said.
Among the club’s star performers were Nabil Khan and Felix Long who came first and second respectively in the under-17s 100m and 200m.
Siteni Taukamo won gold in the U13 long jump and triple jump and silver in the shot putt and 100m.
Taxi Baltinishter scored gold in the U11 discus and javelin and silver in the shot putt.
