There was a good news story, a top-of-the-tables tussle and the return to strong form of a Shute Shield title contenders in round six of the domestic rugby competition.
An undefeated Randwick retained top spot with a good victory over Southern Districts who just a round earlier produced an upset over a depleted Sydney University.

Gordon also retained their position near the top of the table as the only other team to be undefeated after six rounds of play with their win over Newcastle.
The good news story of the weekend was West Harbour Pirates victory over Manly with Easts beating Norths and Sydney University ending Eastwood’s undefeated run.
Randwick 34 def Southern Districts 5
Randwick continue to show they are the team to beat in 2020 with their sixth straight win of the season.
Two early tries from Kristian Jensen helped set up their success with sevens Maurice Longbottom, Simon Kennewell and Triston Reilly also scoring.
Southern Districts had gone into the match undefeated and bolstered by victory over the Students only a week earlier.
But they were no match for Randwick on the day with their only try scored by returning Waratahs hooker Joe Cotton.
West Harbour 22 def Manly 19
West Harbour cracked their first success of the season with an unexpected three point win over Manly.
Watching from the sidelines with a broken finger, sevens gun Rod Davis said it was an important win for the Pirates.
“It will give a lot of confidence,’’ he said
At a sunny but windy Drummoyne Oval, West Harbour produced the shock of the round with
Francis Ieremia Saufoi opening the scoring with Tavite Gadeisuva and Patrick Pellegrino also going over.
Hutana Coffin, Harley Attwater and Yool Yool scored Manly’s tries.

Warringah 49 def Penrith 17
The Emus hosted and put on a show but were simply outclassed by last year’s runners up Warringah in this match.
“It is always nice to get a bonus pout and no injuries so it was a good day,’’ said Rats coach Michael Ruthven
The Rats had three players who all scored two tries each in the emphatic victory.
Alex Fowles, Tyson Davis (two), Benjamin Marr (two), Mungo Mason, Ben Woollett (two) and Rory Suttor were Warringah’s try scorers. Maciu Latabua scored for Penrith.
Sydney Uni 36 def Eastwood 26
Tim Clements contributed two as Sydney Uni bounced back from their defeat against Southern Districts a week ago.
Patrick O’Doherty, Henry Clunies-Ross and Banjo Travers also scored tries for the students.
Matthew Gonzalez, Fabian Goodall (two) and Tim Anstee scored for Eastwood.
“The boys were a bit hurt by last week because we felt we had done enough to win and then lost it,’’ said Students coach Michael Hodge.
“We trained really well and winning at Eastwood is hard to do.
“We are OK injury wise and it helped having the guys (eight player) return from the COVID isolation.’’
Gordon 50 def Newcastle 7
Gordon dominated this battle of the coaching brothers with eight tries to Newcastle’s one. The result saw Gordon become only the second undefeated team in the competition this year with Randwick.
The match saw Darren Coleman coach against his brother Scott at Newcastle.
Lucas Price went over for Gordon first followed by Jack Maguire, Harrison Goddard, Joshua Nercessian, Brendan Mitchell, Maguire, Ellis Abrahams and Tautalatasi Tasi.
George Noa scored the Newcastle sides only try.
Easts 24 def Norths 12
Eastern Suburbs ended the undefeated run all the northern suburbs with their 10 point win over the vaunted side.
Henry Paterson, Jeremy Williams and Dean Oakman-Hunt all scored for the Beasties.
Christian Heinrich Brenden and Nathan Russell went over for Norths.
