Shute Shield 2020: Randwick ready for Newcastle in round one
There’s a very good reason the coach of Randwick will not be underestimating Newcastle in the Shute Shield opener.

They might be the new kids on the block but Newcastle will not be taken lightly by the Galloping Greens in their first match of the 2020 Shute Shield on July 18.
Newcastle will play in the top domestic club rugby competition for the first time in two decades when the 2020 competition begins in July.

But Randwick is out to prevent it being a joyous return to the fray for the Scott Coleman coached Newcastle side at Coogee Oval.
“They won’t be underestimated,” said Ben McCormack, back for his second season in the coaches seat at Randwick.
McCormack said the recent successful coaching history of his counterpart at Newcastle indicates to him the new club side will be a force.
“Scott lead the Hamilton Hawks to the last five premierships,” he said. “He really took them to the top.
“Anyone who can do that has some talent. He will bring a professionalism to that side.
“They might be new but they can’t be underestimated.”

Penrith are also returning to the Shute Shield after an absence since 2018 when they were unable to meet competition standards.
Shute Shield clubs: Penrith and Newcastle will join Shute Shield regulars Gordon, Northern Suburbs, Warringah, Manly, Eastwood, West Harbour, Western Sydney (Parramatta), Southern Districts, Sydney University, Eastern Suburbs and Randwick.
