THE Randwick Botany Little Athletics Club has celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special celebration at Hensley Athletic Field.

THE Randwick Botany Little Athletics Club has celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special celebration at Hensley Athletic Field.

Maroubra state Labor MP Michael Daley was guest of honour as a number of awards were handed out.

Life membership was awarded to Kristel Ariens, Pam Bregonis, Jane Westaway and Sam Minslow.

Anthony Vecellio and John Thompson received awards for their support for the club and captains Chloe Dunn and Sophie Merlo were also recognised.

Randwick Botany first met on a sunny Saturday morning in December 1968.

The club was the first of its kind in NSW and was named after the existing senior club.

The club has produced plenty of stars over the years and looks set to nurture many more in the future.
