Country music star Amber Lawrence to headline Coogee Family Fun Day

COUNTRY music singer Amber Lawrence will headline Coogee Family Fun Day to raise money for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The Golden Guitar best female artist, who grew up in Mascot and released her fourth album Happy Ever After inSeptember, will be the star of the show at Goldstein Reserve on Saturday, December 3.

Event manager Bernadette Summers said childhood memories of the Coogee Mardi Gras inspired her to start the family fun day 22 years ago.

“I wanted to bring a bit of Christmas sparkle back to Coogee for my own children,” Ms Summers said.

She said the annual event, organised by the Coogee Chamber of Commerce, attracted crowds of up to 15,000 people and was a great way to kick-off the count down to Christmas.

On the day, children will be able to handle snakes and creepy crawlies during a reptile show, there will be fun rides, slides, a jumping castle, 80 artisan markets, food stalls with flavours from around the world and a visit from Santa.

Dance troupes from Starz Performance Studio at Maroubra will put on a show, there will be an interactive story telling space and plenty of colouring in to keep the kids busy.

“Amber Lawrence will be on stage this year,” Ms Summers said. “We are thrilled to have her.”

Donation buckets and raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the day.

Since its inception, the Coogee Family Fun Day has raised $130,000 for seriously ill children and last year gave a $10,000 cheque to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.
