Police investigating the vandalism of a heritage listed Captain Cook statue, allegedly splashed with red paint in Sydney’s east, have released CCTV as part of ongoing inquiries.

Police investigating the alleged vandalism of a heritage listed Captain Cook statue in Sydney’s east have released security vision as part of their investigation.
About 8.15am on January 24, police were called to Belmore Rd in Randwick, following reports a statue had been damaged and vandalised with graffiti.
The heritage listed sandstone statue, which portrays British explorer Captain James Cook, was found splashed with red paint which police believe occurred between 4am and 4.30am.
A crime scene was established with a number of items being seized from the location.
As part of ongoing inquiries, police have released CCTV vision showing a man and woman who might be able to assist.
The man seen in the CCTV is described as wearing a black jacket, black T-shirt with a logo, dark pants, black sneakers and black hair.
The woman is described as wearing a green/grey jacket, black pants and thongs, with brown hair.
