RANDWICK dedicated their win against local rivals Eastern Suburbs to teammate Nick Kellaway who underwent surgery following a freak accident in training.

Easts started well and led 12 — 0 until five minutes before halftime.

However, The Wicks capitalised on a yellow card for the Easts’ Ofa Fainga’anuku to level the scores at the break.

At half time, Coach Owen Finegan made it clear that it is a game of momentum and that Randwick cannot be passive in defence or attack.

In the second half, a loose pass by Easts at the half way line enabled blindside flanker Sam Croke to kick the ball along the ground and regather to score under the posts, giving Randwick a seven-point lead. Easts replied with a converted try not long after to level at 19 — 19. But replacement Triston Reilly’s late try, which was converted, secured a 26 — 19 win.

Second grade started well, leading by 12 points early on. However, Easts then ran in six tries to win 36 — 24.

Third grade controlled the game well and spread the ball wide.

They won a crucial tight head late in the game to secure a win against a determined Eastern Suburbs, with Randwick’s left wing Isaac McKay scoring two tries.
