Randwick Council is raking in more than $370,000 a month in parking fines and has revealed which parking rules are most commonly breached in the area.

On average this year, the council has issued $374,000 in parking fines each month.

The most common fines have been for vehicles parking longer than allowed and failing to observe no stopping signs.

Despite the eye watering amount, Randwick Council issues the lowest number of parking tickets compared to its four neighbouring councils Bayside, Waverley, Woollahra and City of Sydney.

“Randwick City Council currently employs eight full time parking patrol officers as well as six casuals who assist during the busier weekend and spring/summer holiday periods,” a Randwick Council spokeswoman said.

“All fine revenue goes into council’s consolidated revenue which is used to provide council services.”

Fine amounts are set by the State Government not the council.
