Former Roosters star Ian Schubert suffers compound fracture in crash

Former Roosters star Ian Schubert has suffered a serious compound fracture injury during a crash involving his motorcycle and a car pulling out of a driveway at Randwick.

Former Eastern Suburbs Roosters star Ian Schubert is due to undergo surgery following a compound fracture to his leg which he suffered during a serious crash at Randwick on Sunday.

Police are asking the public to come forward with any security or dash camera footage of the crash, which happened on King St about 3pm.

A Toyota Aurion was turning right from a driveway onto the street when it collided with the motorcycle, being driven by Schubert, 63, travelling east.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said the rider suffered a compound fracture to his leg and an ankle injury.

He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police confirmed he was expected to undergo surgery on Monday and he remained in a stable condition. However, there are fears his foot may have to be amputated.

The female driver of the Toyota Aurion, 29, stopped after the crash and spoke with police.

Eastern Beaches police are investigating and have asked the public for any footage that could assist them.
