Montefiore to build luxurious Sydney village for seniors
A NEW 79-apartment, $100 million plus development in Randwick will feature a cinema, lap pool and room service for its penthouses and apartments.

THE ground has now been broken on a luxurious $100 million-plus independent living neighbourhood for seniors in Randwick.
M by Montefiore is a new 79-apartment premium retirement living development planned for Dangar St, Randwick. Slated as stylish living for seniors, the 29,353 sqm village will have one and two bedroom apartments as well as three-bedroom penthouses, with light rail nearby.
Montefiore president David Freeman said deposits had been taken on a third of the apartments so far.
“It’s been a busy and successful six months since we launched to the market,” he said. “This development will allow us to meet strong demand in the community for high-end independent living, while the proceeds will ensure Montefiore can continue to subsidise the increasing number of older people who need our financial support to receive quality aged care.”
Designers Jackson Teece were employed to combine an aesthetic which was both contemporary and classic with the needs of assisted living and Jewish customs in mind.
Terracotta battens create a distinct facade and help to enhance privacy and sun-shading.

Internally, designer Kate Richards chose timber and natural stone and focused on “capturing sunlight and natural ventilation”.
“We’ve incorporated luxurious finishes and fittings, at the same time following principles of facilitated living that will allow residents to live fully and with dignity,” she said.
The apartments are designed to accommodate Jewish customs and way of life, with kitchen facilities suitable for kosher and appliances that function in Sabbath mode. M by Montefiore will also include weekly cleaning, room service, a wellness spa, club lounge, cinema, retail and a heated 20m lap pool. Construction is expected by be complete in 2020.
“Clever planning means a balance of privacy and security while encouraging community connection and a sense of belonging in the public spaces,” Ms Richards said.
