DEVELOPMENT giant Meriton wants to build a 13-storey residential tower in Mascot.
The company, owned by Australian’s richest man Harry Triguboff, has submitted a development application for 105 apartments in a 13-storey block in O’Riordan St.
The site is bordered by Haran St and is just a few hundred metres from Mascot railway station.
Meriton bought the site for $25 million last year. The site already had planning approval for a 13-storey tower comprising of 99 apartments.
However, Meriton is going back through the DA process to add a further six apartments. The block would also have basement parking for 107 cars with 9,311 sqm of total floor space.
Meriton has worked with DKO Architecture on the project which they say supports “Mascot’s developing nature”.
“The residential density of the proposal is sustainable and suitable,” a report submitted by Meriton for the DA said.
“The development will promote the infrastructure efficiency and support the commercial, retail and recreational activities in the area.”
Meriton has a strong presence in the area with the Pagewood Green development less than 5km away.
Last September Meriton cemented a $245 million deal to buy beachfront Little Bay Cove project.
