McDonalds Maroubra may open 24-hours

McDonalds believes people at Maroubra should never be denied a Big Mac and is pushing the case for its Anzac Pde restaurant to trade 24 hours.

The Maroubra restaurant trades from 6am till midnight, but management of the burger chain said there is customer demand for a 24 hour operation.

McDonalds has applied to Randwick Council for the extended hours, and said its Maroubra restaurant is in the vicinity of late night trading venues.

The restaurant neighbours a 7 Eleven store which trades 24 hours.

McDonalds representatives have cited other venues which trade until the early morning.

These include the Glasshouse Hotel, which trades until 3am from Monday to Saturday, and El Toro Tapas Bar, which trades until 2am on Friday and Saturday.

McDonalds representatives in arguing their case have pointed out the Maroubra restaurant does not have a drive through or carpark.

These have often been places where anti-social behaviour has occurred in the early hours.

The Maroubra restaurant opened in the early 90s.

Council staff will consult police and other stakeholders before making a decision.

McDonalds opened a restaurant at Royal Randwick Shopping Centre in April.

The restaurant trades from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and until 8pm on Sunday.
