A wild fight which saw two men crash through a glass window while allegedly armed with an axe in Mascot has resulted in the pair fronting court.
Craig Stuart Ting, 51, from Mascot, pleaded guilty to affray on Monday following the bust up inside his home on April 3. Co-accused Ersin Kocer, 34, from Eastlakes, has pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
The pair were drinking inside Ting’s Botany Rd unit about 10pm on the night of the incident, according to court documents, when Kocer allegedly tried to kiss a woman inside the home.
That upset Ting who picked up a kitchen knife and yelled “get out” to both Kocer and the woman, the agreed facts stated.
An argument escalated and Kocer allegedly grabbed an axe, court documents allege.
A scuffle broke out between the men as police allege they both tried to take hold of the axe, which included a 15cm long blade.
The pair then crashed through a window next to the front door, police allege.
Police were called by concerned neighbours and both men suffered cuts to their hands and arms.
The pair were handcuffed when police arrived at the public housing unit and Ting was taken to hospital due to his cuts, which were bleeding heavily.
He was later discharged and both men were charged with affray.
Ting appeared in person at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Monday while Kocer entered a plea without attending.
Ting has a short criminal history and will be sentenced on August 5. Kocer is due back in court on August 17.
Both men remain on bail.
