A leaking road near Maroubra Beach – which has seen a constant flow of water bubbling out of the surface for the past week – is set to be repaired by Sydney Water, which apologised for any inconvenience. Watch the video.

A leaking road near Maroubra Beach – which has seen a constant flow of water bubbling out of the surface for the past week – is set to be repaired.

A constant flow of water has been leaking out of the surface of the road on the corner of Bond St and Marine Pde, Maroubra. It is understood Sydney Water attended the location following reports of flowing water, and manually created a hole in the road surface.

The water can be seen in a video gushing out of a small hole, with water streaming down towards the gutter. At the end of the video, further damage to the road can be seen, with large cracks and significant pothole near the gutter.

Jodie, a manager of The Grumpy Baker located near the leaking road, said Sydney Water was contacted last Tuesday and that the problem had been a conversation starter with customers.

She said initially there was a little hole near the gutter. After Sydney Water visited the site, a bigger hole had been made.

The employee said the issue needed to be resolved as soon as possible and there was little communication about efforts to address the ongoing water spillage.

“I was told (by Sydney Water) they need to dig up half of the road to fix it,” she said.

It is understood Randwick Council contacted Sydney Water on Monday to receive an update.

A Sydney Water spokesman said on Tuesday it had been notified of the leak and given its location, network technicians were expected to undertake repairs “after hours tonight”.

“We apologise for the inconvenience to our customers,” he said.
