A learner driver has been charged after allegedly crashing into a parked car and spitting on police in Kingsford.
Police will allege in court Luke Burak, 21, from Clovelly, was driving unaccompanied on a learner licence when he crashed into a parked car then a fence on Lancaster Cres in Kingsford about 1.40am on Saturday.
Police will allege in court when they arrived and spoke to Burak he was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol.
Police attempted to breath test the young driver but he allegedly refused “a number of times”.
Police will allege in court that he resisted arrest, from four officers, and assaulted another officer by spitting at him during a struggle on the ground.
Burak cut his leg on glass from the crash and was treated by paramedics and taken to Prince of Wales Hospital.
Burak fronted Waverley Local Court on Monday charged with four offences and was granted bail.
He pleaded not guilty to all four charges including learner not accompanied by driver, resist officer in execution of duty, intimidate police officer in execution of duty without causing actual bodily harm, and assault police officer in execution of duty without causing actual bodily harm.
However, he has not been charged with drink driving. His matter will be back in court in November.
