Karl Gruenhoffer: Mascot man charged with stabbing woman, hitting police
A man from Sydney’s inner south has fronted court for allegedly stabbing a woman in the hands and buttocks and assaulting a female police officer.

A man from Sydney’s inner south has fronted court for allegedly stabbing a woman and assaulting a female police officer.
Karl Heinz Gruenhoffer, 49, was arrested on Sunday night after police were called to a High St unit in Mascot about 7.40pm.
A 44-year-old woman was treated at the scene for stab wounds to her hand and buttocks and was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
Gruenhoffer was arrested and charged over the alleged stabbing.
Police will allege in court that Gruenhoffer and the woman – who were known to each other – were involved in an argument prior to the woman being stabbed.
Police will allege the woman then went into another room before Gruenhoffer choked her.
Police will also allege Gruenhoffer struck a female constable to the head with his arms when he was exiting a police vehicle at Mascot Police Station.
The Mascot man has been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence), reckless wounding (domestic violence), intentionally choke person without consent (domestic violence), common assault (domestic violence) and assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.
He briefly appeared in Central Local Court via audio visual link on Monday but did not apply for bail.
Bail was refused and his matter has been adjourned until January 19.
