A man who allegedly assaulted a police officer after crashing his electric scooter in Coogee while driving drunk has faced court.
Guillermo Maximo Garcia Pinto, 29, from Bondi, was assisted by a Spanish interpreter when he appeared at Waverley Local Court this week facing seven charges.
Late on Sunday, January 12, Mr Garcia Pinto allegedly drove an electric scooter along Bream St in Coogee and hit a parked van.
He was treated by paramedics following the alleged crash.
When police arrived, they allege they tried to speak to him and he assaulted a male officer.
He was arrested and underwent a breath analysis which allegedly returned a reading of 0.161 – three times over the legal alcohol limit for drivers on a full licence.
He was charged with seven offences including high-range drink driving, assault officer, and never licenced person drive on road.
His matter was adjourned on Wednesday and Magistrate Allison Hawkins told him a plea must be entered on the next occasion.
His matter will be mentioned again on Wednesday, February 12.
