Emanuel George Fradelakis: Botany man in court cocaine charges

A university student has appeared in court accused of conducting more than 50 drug deals from his family home. Police allege they found 20g of coke, $26,000 in cash and a Rolex locked in a metal safe in his bedroom.

Man charged over alleged ongoing supply of cocaine across Sydney’s south

A young man busted for allegedly selling cocaine out of his southern Sydney home used the family letter box as a collection point for his customers, a court has heard.

Uni student Emanuel George Fradelakis, arrested by strike force officers in Botany on Tuesday morning, is alleged to have dealt cocaine more than 50 times in one gram transactions over the last four months.

It will be alleged in court that when detectives raided the Fradelakis home on Pemberton St they seized 20g of the drug, more than $26,000 in cash, a Rolex watch and Nokia mobile phone from a locked metal safe in the 23-year-old’s bedroom.

He was taken to Mascot police station and charged with deal with property proceeds of crime, drug supply on an ongoing basis and two counts of supply prohibited drug.

Police began investigating Fradelakis in October 2019 and will allege in court he was observed through personal surveillance and via intercepted calls and texts arranging drug deals with regular clients between November 2019 and February 2020.

In one alleged conversation a client is said to have asked the accused: “Since I’m paying $400 a pizza, can you make it a bulkier one?”

“Shut up,” Fradelakis allegedly replied.

During a bail application at Central Local Court on Wednesday defence lawyer Ben Clark declared it would be “hotly contested” that the cash found in his client’s safe was the proceeds of crime.

He said the $26,500 was actually payments from customers of the family’s kitchen and bathroom renovation business, which his client worked for while not at university.

“His father tells me he will be able to confirm a legitimate source for that money,” Mr Clark said.

Mr Clark told the court his client was “under no illusion of the serious nature of these charges” but argued he could be released on strict bail conditions akin to “home detention”.

He was in the final year of a construction management degree and would not reoffend, Mr Clark said.

Magistrate Lisa Viney refused bail saying that a previous conviction for drug supply, for which Fradelakis received a good behaviour bond, raised concern he might continue to offend.

Investigations are continuing.
