A new $47 million warehouse and distribution complex has been proposed near Port Botany.
The complex will be located in the Botany industrial area on a site known as Coal Pier Industrial Estate at 9 Coal Pier Rd, Banksmeadow.
The developer, Goodman, lodged the plans with Bayside Council last week which include two, large warehouses being erected alongside each other with space for eight tenancies.
The complex will boast about 28,000 sqm of warehouse floor space which is the equivalent of four football fields.
There will also be 146 parking spaces and the project is estimated to cost $47 million.
The development application requested the complex operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week “as consistent with many other existing warehousing and light-industrial uses” in the area.
“It is anticipated that the buildings will be used for warehouse and distribution uses upon completion,” the proposal read.
“The site is currently vacant ... with no significant structural elements.
“The site was previously used as a fuel tank farm by Mobil for the storage and distribution of aviation fuels.”
Each of the tenancies includes loading bays for trucks. A total of 87 trees will be removed under the plans.
