Sydney United 58 wins local derby against Bonnyrigg as Marconi falter

Sydney United 58 sit on top of the National Premier League NSW men’s 1 ladder after an impressive derby win over the Bonnyrigg White Eagles.

Sydney United 58 sent a strong message to the National Premier League NSW men’s 1 competition with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over neighbours Bonnyrigg White Eagles on Sunday at Bonnyrigg.

The White Eagles came out of the blocks early at home with captain Chris Tadrosse opening the scoring in the second minute.

United 58 midfielder Chris Triantis res­tored parity three minutes later before Panni Nikas and new recruit Richie Cardozo scored on debut to secure the three points.

Head coach Mark Rudan said his side is high on confidence leading into their next match against the APIA Leichhardt Tigers this Sunday at Sydney United Sports Centre.

“I think that was the first time we beat Bonnyrigg away in the club’s history which is great,” Rudan said.

“There is a really good vibe at the club now, all the boys are enjoying coming to training and being around each other.

“We have had a few players come back from injury but nevertheless we have good depth.”

Bossley Park side Marconi Stallions remain second last on the ladder after a 3-0 loss to the Blacktown Spartans over the weekend.

“There was some poor ­defending and we conceded two goals in a minute in the first half,” Stallions coach Paul Carter said.
