Having dedicated almost 25 years to the game of softball, Cindy Patmore personifies the very spirit of volunteering.
The 51-year-old East Hills resident has been nominated for the Service to Sport award as part of the Junior Sports Star competition.
The award recognises the contributions of an individual club member or volunteer of a sporting organisation who shows passion, spirit and determination.
A stalwart of the Georges River Softball Association, Ms Patmore has coached more than 75 softball teams over the last 25 years.
She has been the head coach of 12 representative level teams and assistant coach of 20 odd representative teams.
But the duties don’t end there — Ms Patmore can be seen helping out at the canteen when needed and also organises fundraising events for the association.
She has been known to help out at trivia nights and donates money to junior softballers who are raising money to travel to international softball events.
Fellow association member Mekaela Harrison said Ms Patmore was an invaluable asset to the local softball community who always went beyond the call of duty.
“Cindy is selfless,” Ms Harrison said. “She gives her time freely, willingly and passionately.”
“We love her for this. Our kids and the sport all benefit from her selfless acts of time and kindness.
“There are so many more times where Cindy has gone beyond what is expected, all her acts are done on a volunteering basis,” she said.
“We all think it is time she is rewarded, we and our kids are always rewarded from her volunteered time and efforts.”
Ms Patmore is The Express’ latest nominee for the Service to Sport award, sponsored by Rebel.
