Young  prodigy Nathan Tohme is a name to look out for in the world of football.

The Punchbowl athlete has ambitions to compete internationally, but not before establishing his name on home soil.

Nathan, 15, represents the Western Sydney Wanderers’ under-15 side in the National Premier League and scored a goal on their first day of the competition last month.

The Holy Spirit College student began playing football aged five.

His father spotted his potential early on and encouraged him to rise through the ranks.

As a result, Nathan trialled and was selected for his first premier league team when he was 12.

It proved to be a defining moment in his career with the self-motivated footballer devoting even more energy to the game.

“I started putting in 100 per cent,” Nathan said.

“I always want to make sure I’m the best.”

His goal is to be the “best centre back”.

Having played for Sydney Olympic FC’s under-14 team, Nathan fulfilled his aspiration to play for the Wanderers this year.

He trains with the team three times a week and works on different skills in his own time.

“When I start playing on the field, I get this feeling in me. I feel excited,” he said.

Nathan is The Express’ latest nominee for the Junior Sports Star award, sponsored by Rebel.

Nominations close on October 28. To nominate someone you know visit juniorsportsstar.com.au.
