Blake Macdonald is the very definition of multi-talented.
The 12-year-old Milperra youngster devotes himself to extra-curricular activities throughout the week, with three sports on his plate.
Blake plays for the recently re-established Bankstown Sports AFL Club while also juggling cricket and swimming.
Despite having plenty to focus on at such a young age, Blake channels his energy into each sport equally.
It’s no wonder his coaches have recognised his natural talent and ability.
Before taking up Australian rules football, Blake played rugby league, and the transition from one to the other has broadened his skill set.
Blake’s mother, Roxanne Macdonald, said he applied himself to the sport completely.
The transition has involved more physical exertion, which Blake enjoys.
“It’s a lot more physical. It involves a lot of running around,” Ms Macdonald said.
A committed young athlete, Blake “never complains”.
“You ask him to do anything, he gives it 100 per cent,” Ms Macdonald said.
In addition to his AFL pursuits, Blake has been playing representative cricket for Bankstown Cricket Club for the past three years.
As the oldest of three children in his family, Blake has been an inspiration and role model to his younger siblings.
Blake is The Express’ latest nominee for the Junior Sports Star awards, which recognises the outstanding achievements of young athletes.
The award is sponsored by Rebel.
